In Rwanda, Children and Youth make up a big number of the Rwandan population, but they often have low rates of structured and professional social behaviour change education and information including; access to sexual and reproductive health education and services compared to older age groups even when they are not prohibited. As a result, youth are faced with issues that greatly contribute to health challenges like early pregnancies, rights violation, drugs and drug abuse, incidences of sexually transmitted infections, gender-based violence (GBV), school dropouts, issues related to life and work readiness skills, among others.
Addressing youth and adolescent sexual and reproductive health problems through capacity building and development communications solutions is a key priority for Heritage Communications in supplementing on the Government of Rwanda’s effort to have a healthy and productive children and youth.
Addressing and responding to the social and behavioural issues of the youth has been proven globally to have strong positive contributions to improving reproductive health and academic outcomes and hence social economic development to the individuals and the society.
